Bargain Books!

            We made a long overdue trip to our local Books-A-Million the other day. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love going to bookstores. It’s just something about the atmosphere, I think. Problem is, I have to actually kind of keep myself from going to them more often because I almost always end up buying something. Lol (Not that books are a bad thing, it’s just that I used to be really bad about not reading half of the books I purchased. :/)

            Pretty much any type of store we visit we always have to hit up the clearance aisles/areas: Walmart, Kroger, heck, I even do it on online stores, and the bookstore is no exception! Unfortunately, most of the time there usually A) Isn’t anything we could live without, even at discount prices or B) The discounts are so shameful they shouldn’t even be included/considered clearance! However, we got lucky and found some pretty good deals on some children’s Halloween books at Books-A-Million the other day.

            I really had no intention of buying anything when we went in, but who can pass up half off or more?! I especially couldn’t help myself since I had wanted to get Myka some more fall and/or Halloween related books anyways. I hadn’t expected them (or any other store, for that matter) to have Halloween items discounted already. (We bought our books on the 25th.) I’m not complaining, though! ;)

            Of course every store is going to differ as far as their clearance items go, more than likely, but we purchased “Who Said Boo?” at $1.97 (originally $5.99) and “Where is Baby’s Pumpkin?” at $3.97 (originally $7.99). Even better, they are board AND lift-the-flap books! Not bad since she will be able to enjoy these for years to come. They had other books for older children as well on the clearance table.

            While it wasn’t on sale, we also bought “Give Thanks for Each Day”. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it, so I thought it would be a good idea to get a Thanksgiving related book while we were there. I really liked it because it didn’t have any history of how Thanksgiving came about (a little murky and serious for a 1 year old, in my opinion) and didn’t have any religious ties. (Get offended all you want, but we firmly believe in letting our kids choose for themselves what religious or spiritual belief, if any, they want to follow when they’re old enough to make an informed decision.) It’s basically about being thankful for everyday things, such as hugs and snuggles with loved ones, toys, nature, etc. :)
