Goodwill Kids Clothes Haul!

Hey folks! With our lifestyle, I've never really been one of those people who cry, “Oh my God! Kids are so expensive!” However, one thing that I do find expensive with kids is clothes! We've been very fortunate so far in that we have gotten a lot of hand-me-downs from family friends and my mom likes shopping for them at second-hand shops.
While we still get clothes from those places, Myka has grown a TON this year. In fact, we just measured her on her growth chart the other day and she has grown TWO INCHES since FEBRUARY! It's only been 8 months! (I wrote this back in October.) Between that and the fact that she and Ripley were born just far enough apart and in different climates, I've been stressing how I'm going to clothe two children this winter! We certainly can't afford to buy them brand new clothes each, so off to Goodwill we went!
We're not real frequent shoppers of Goodwill, to be honest. One, we have to drive to Bloomington to get to one and two, I think subconsciously both of us get tired of having to wade through the areas that aren't exactly organized very well or at all. This can be especially trying when you have said children to shop for with you! But, we sucked it up this time and I'm glad we went!

Here was our total outcome for the kids:

Ripley: 6 pairs of pants, 4 shirts
Myka: 4 pairs of pants, 5 shirts, 1 dress

Total before taxes: $38.35

What the?! Why don't I shop here more often?! Check out these price tags...

One of Myka's shirt still had the tag on it from Kohl's! Sure, it was part of a set and the pants didn't come with the shirt, but originally $32?! And we got it for $2?!
The yellow tags were half off.
$3.99 was the most we paid for any of the kids clothes. (I did get a pair of maternity jeans, but this is about the kids clothes. ;) )

I will definitely be shopping at Goodwill and second-hand stores more, especially with another baby on the way! Do you shop at re-sale shops? What is your favorite thing to shop for there?

  1. I love shopping used clothing for kids stuff. They don't wear it long enough for it to be worth spending the money to buy new clothes all the time!
