Hey folks! I don't have any fun or useful tips for you this time, but I thought I would share some of the funny (and strange) new things Myka has learned recently.
I used to try harder not to do this because some people say that it may give kids a complex about using the bathroom and make potty training harder when they're older, but I can't help myself. As I've heard from numerous parents, Myka's poos have been getting stinkier as she's getting older. Like a lot of people, I find myself saying, "pew pew" and waving my hand in front of my face whenever I change her #2 diapers. You know. Just being silly. Well, evidently I do it more often than I realize because she has picked up on it and waves her little hand in front of her face whenever I say "pew pew" or open her dirty diaper up. lol
Speaking of turds, she has also started this thing in the last few weeks where she will shake her head "no" when she's getting ready to do something she knows she shouldn't be...And then proceeds to do it anyways...While still shaking her head "no" and looking directly at me. -_-
In the past week or so she has started babbling more. Sometimes it sounds like "real words", but more often than not it's still gibberish. It sounded like she said "cookie dough" the other day, which I thought was kind of weird since I hadn't even made cookies for a few weeks. ha ha One kind of strange thing I've noticed is that she babbles a lot more when she's by herself, whether she's in her crib or playing by herself. When she's looking at books it makes sense. I just wonder why she doesn't do it more when she's around us. Maybe she's pretending?
She is finally picking up on sign language more. She finally has her own way of signing "thank you" and uses "please" most of the time. I also taught her "drink/bottle" the other day, but we're still working on that one. She definitely has "more" down pat. lol I still wish she could communicate better (Yes, I know. It takes work on our part too.) since she still gets frustrated a lot, but we're making progress! :)
What funny or weird things have your little ones learned lately?
Oh how I miss those fun exploring stages! My kids are 7 & almost 9 so we have different learning adventures but I at times miss the simple discovery of a little one.
ReplyDeleteI Taught ALL 3 Of My Kids Sign Language It Helped So Much To Communicate When They Couldn't Talk Yet!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! My husband keeps saying, "You need to start using real words." I'm always like, "Yah, but you have to admit it's nice that she can at least kind of tell us what she wants now!" :)
DeleteKids are so funny. My daughter does the same with shaking her head when she knows she is not supposed to do something.

It's hard not to laugh sometimes!
DeleteLittle ones can be such little stinks! My youngest is 9 months and all over everything. She's been walking for about a month now and likes to grin real big at us and she gets into things.
ReplyDeleteha ha! My mom has pictures of me when I was around that age doing the same thing. :)
