Exceptional Teaching Do.A.Dot Art & Activity Book Review

Hey folks! I hope you have been enjoying all of the reviews and giveaways so far this week for the Birthday Extravaganza Giveaway Event! Today's review and giveaway are sponsored by Exceptional Teaching. They specialize in products to help those with special needs. As per their website, "Our mission is to help individuals with special needs acquire the skills and attitudes required to function effectively as contributing members of society. The corporation accomplishes its mission by providing affordable and innovative products for individuals of all ages having special needs as well as all those who serve this population."
Whether you have a friend or family member with special needs or not, you are still sure to find something your children and/or family will enjoy! Exceptional Teaching offers an array of items ranging from sensory balls to Braille sudoku puzzles, learning games to arts and crafts supplies!
We had the opportunity to try out the Do.A.Dot Art set and a Creative Art Book. I have to admit I've been wanting to try these out with Myka ever since I saw some Do.A.Dot printables on a homeschooling blog I follow. Although the activity book we received for review is admittedly a little old for Myka (I chose it), we love doing arts and crafts-type things around here, so I thought it would be nice to have something different to do once in awhile.

I like that the pages are perforated so you can tear them out and hang them up, put them in a school folder, etc.

I love the whole idea behind these markers and activity books. You can use the two together to work on pre-writing skills, hand-eye coordination, and as a tool to learn letters, shapes, and more. Or, if you have younger kids and/or don't want to do "rigid learning", you can still use your imagination and make unique pictures with the markers. They're not as "single use" as you may think at first!

There are a plethora of the Do.A.Dot Art Creative Art Books to choose from. We went with the Play and Learn one because it includes numbers, letters, and shapes. We have been having a different letter of the alphabet as a theme, if you will, for two weeks at a time, so this activity books goes along great with that! My only regret is that I didn't make a few copies of each page we've worked on so far, if that's even allowed. But, at only $4.99 per book, it won't break the bank to buy another one when the time comes!

More page examples from the Learn & Play book.

Myka has actually done pretty good at, well, doing the dots. She's always had freakishly good fine motor skills for her age since she was little, though. And for the record, no, I don't stand there and tell her where to put the dots!

Once she was finished filling the dots in she went a little crazy. lol

Not that she doesn't seem to enjoy using these, but she seems to enjoy messing with the cap and shaking the bottle up more than actually "coloring". But hey, she's two. I'm sure she'll enjoy using them for their intended purpose more as she gets older and her attention span gets a little longer. ;) They are still a great tool to teach children the skills I mentioned earlier in a fun and different way.

The Do.A.Dot Art markers also comes with a pamphlet of art ideas!
