Spring Craft & Activity Week-Easter Egg Sensory Box

Hey folks! I can hardly contain my excitement that Spring is just around the corner! I've been going through one of my really crafty spells too, so I thought I would share what I've been working on with you all. I hope the posts this week inspire you to get out the glue gun and foam board...Or at least give you some ideas for your own projects. Welcome to MBM's Spring Craft & Activity Week!

Ok, so today's activity isn't necessarily a "sensory box", per se, but it makes it sound nicer. You can think of it more as a really easy Easter egg hunt for younger kids. If you have children or grandchildren, you are more than likely going to be making them Easter baskets and/or doing egg hunts, so I thought, "Why not get some extra use out of the plastic eggs and Easter grass?"

What You'll Need:
-Easter grass, paper or plastic (I only got the plastic because I figured it wouldn't be QUITE as messy.)
-Plastic Easter eggs

It might also be fun to stick some kind of small treats (a single M&M in each one, for example), toys, etc. in the eggs to make it a little more exciting. You might also stick some pom-pom balls in there too. Kids seem to love those things!
As long as your baby doesn't try to stuff the grass in his/her mouth (Come on, guys. Do I really need to keep putting these disclaimers?), older babies and toddlers should have fun discovering the new texture of the grass, tossing it in the air, using it as a wig, you get the idea. Plus what kid doesn't like digging around for hidden objects? Myka particularly enjoyed opening and closing the eggs, as well as making the grass "rain". Since you should already be supervising your child anyway, right (?), you could work on colors too with the eggs.

You can tell she's real camera shy, huh? ;)

Disclaimer: Please use common sense when choosing activities and toys for your children. You know your child better than anyone else. (In theory.) If it's likely that he/she is going to put small objects that are potential choking hazards in his/her mouth, DON'T GIVE THEM TO HIM/HER! Choose a different age/child appropriate toy or activity. And please, PLEASE supervise your children. Thanks!
