Hey folks! We all have things, no matter how ludicrous or selfish they may be, we miss from before we had kids, right? Well, here's my list...
- Being able to run to any store quickly without it turning into an event.
- Playing video/computer games any time I wanted, as long as I wanted. (At least I could MAKE my Sims go to bed. ;) )Nighty night!
- Going somewhere on a whim without much forward planning or preparing. (We still go places on a whim, but I think we all know how long it can take to get kids and all of their accoutrements ready!)
- Not having to find a babysitter before seeing a movie, going out to eat at a sit down restaurant, etc.
- Time alone! (I have good sleepers, so I've been working on getting up earlier for this reason!)
- Only worrying about myself. (i.e. Not worrying about my offspring turning into a demon in public and making sure they are not getting into things they shouldn't be.)
- Staying up late and binge watching tv shows on Netflix.
- Not having to stop in the middle of something to attend to something (or someone else).
- Not having someone trying to get my attention every 5 seconds...To show me the exact same thing they showed me 5 seconds ago.
- Being able to have “mommy-daddy alone time” any time of day.
- Getting things done quicker because I didn't have a “helper”.
Yes, yes, yes and yes!!! I miss every one of those. I also miss being able to sleep whenever I want and for however long I want!

DeleteEverything on your list is on mine too! The other thing I'd add is being able to read a book in peace from front to back if I want without interruption. I keep reminding myself that they grow up QUICKLY and I"ll miss this stuff. However, it's so-o-o-o- hard to keep that in mind when all I want is to do my thing. However, love isn't selfish and I work diligently to love completely (not always an easy task!!)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Yes! Can't believe I forgot that one! Even now that I have two kids and less time to myself than ever, I still find myself going through spurts where all I want to do is read (and sometimes write for fun too, not blogging) and it's really hard not to be selfish and just sit around and read all day sometimes. So I definitely feel ya!
DeleteMuch truth in this list. :) But one day maybe they will move out. http://www.anikasdiylife.com/diy-upholstered-storage-ottoman/

ReplyDeleteTime alone with the Mrs. The ability to talk together, or at least spell! DId I mention alone time?
ReplyDeletelol Yes, I definitely miss alone time too! ...Or being able to finish a sentence to my husband without being interrupted!
DeleteLOL all of them! Eating and sleeping are number 1 and 2 on my list. I wouldn't be without my little ones but I've aged 100 years and haven't enjoyed a proper meal in 10....bless em!:)
