This is the area with the aloe plants (obviously) and cactus, which I removed.
And here it is after hoeing, putting some compost, cow manure, and peat moss down and planting something called cineraria. They look like really vibrant, purple daisies to me.
Here's the area that was super thick with leaves and weeds that had the tarp in the corner.
And here it is after hoeing it and adding compost and peat moss. This will be our herb garden. So far I've got two lavender, a lemonbalm, and a sage plant there. We just started our other herbs indoors yesterday.
Here is where we'll be planting some of our garden veggies.
We got the bright idea to dig some steps out so we don't feel like we're going to misstep and go tumbling down the hill. It's a lot steeper than it looks! We are going to add some cement there too when it gets and stays warmer out.
Some rough mounds of where zucchinis and such will be planted.
How is your yard and/or garden coming along? Have you even had a chance to start anything yet? I'd love to hear from you!
Wow it looks great so far. We do not have much space but we are going to be starting a small herb garden.

Love those steps, and your yard! My husand and I are currently trying to figure out how to increase our garden space with a sloped yard. Luckily we have started to get warm weather too...so we will be pretty busy.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of a challenge and definitely my least favorite thing about our back yard! A roto-tiller sure would be nice!
DeleteWhat a fun time of year! So much promise of yummy fresh food to come!
